That Island Magic
Lyrics: Deb Beauregard, © The Island Castaways Band
Well I worked sixty hours
just to earn this week’s pay
Meetings, Deadlines, Conference Calls
spent my time each day
I want to wake up at the sunrise
greet the dawn of day
Sand Dunes, Skiffs, Fishing Nets
seagulls and dolphins play
And oh That Island Magic
has played it’s tricks on me
showing where my dreams are
teasing where I should be
Forecast just came in today
we’re due for snow and ice
boots, shovel and deep frost freeze
hot coffee would be nice
I need balmy temps again
how they make me want to sing
sunshine, trade winds, morning dew
weather from my front porch swing
And oh That Island Magic
has played it’s tricks on me
showing where my dreams are
teasing where I should be
Streets littered with buildings
occasional plant or tree
Pavement, Tollbooths, Traffic Jams
ugly urban artistry!
I want to hike a path unattended
upon a lush rainforest floor
Flora, Fauna, Tidal Pools
There for everyone to adore
And oh That Island Magic
has played it’s tricks on me
showing where my dreams are
teasing where I should be
Tonga Juice (The Legend of Tonga Tam)
Lyrics: Roy Holliday, © The Island Castaways Band
It was a sunny Summer morning,
Yeah, somewhere in Vermont
Driving in from Mass, with barely any gas.
Moving fast and nonchalant.
We saw signs for bear, signs for moose.
Signs for home made wine
But we could feel something else, deep in the woods,
Just didn’t know what we would find.
So we pulled into a beach house,
Nestled in the mountainside
Unloaded our van, shook a few hands
Sound checked and stepped aside
When out came this big cooler,
I figured it was filled with ice
Someone gave it a stare, pulled up a chair
And it was… Tonga time.
Those who have played New England
They know the legend well
Tonga Tam is a trop rock fan
With a recipe that gives bands hell.
From near and from far, We’ve all known her bar
And we’ve all probably been on her floor
But when the weather is here and good friends are near,
It’s a fate a band can’t ignore.
It’s just a mind elevatin’ , big-straw’d creation
Served up in a scorpion bowl.
Sweet temptation, ooh salvation
Just watchin’ that liquid flow.
I can’t blame a margarita and I sure as Hell can’t blame you.
All I know is early that morning it was… Tonga Juice!
If you’re ever at a tailgate,
concert, fest or bash
look out at the sundrenched crowd
And you’ll find her in a flash.
She’s got the smile – she’s got the grace
To keep you at her place.
But, watch the clock or you’ll end up crocked
And.. living on Tonga time.
It’s just a mind elevatin’ , big-strawed creation
Served up in a scorpion bowl.
Sweet temptation, ooh salvation
Just watchin’ that liquid flow.
I can’t blame a margarita, and I sure as Hell can’t blame you.
All I know is that afternoon it was… Tonga Juice.
Tonga Juice, Tonga juice
Why’d ya have to taste so fine?
Tonga Juice, Tonga juice,
Do the conga in the Tonga line.
Tonga Juice, Tonga juice
I think I ‘bout lost my mind
Tonga Juice, Tonga juice,
Hope we made it to the show on time.
Yeah I guess we finally arrived
And I think we had a real good time.
Different Song
Lyrics: Paul Kane, © The Island Castaways Band
Sand through the hour glass, time keeps a chugging along
Life’s great adventure, find your buried treasure
Every day should be a different song.
Sail away into the setting sun, dance on a beach in the Caribbean
Be a mile high in Denver, find postcards to send her
Tell me where and when and baby I’m gone.
Following your heart sometimes, is the hardest thing to do
Some people just won’t understand, to your heart you must be true
Live your dreams, don’t fade away, we got one shot on this ride
Dance to your own rhythm, don’t keep your song inside.
Zip-line through Costa Rican skies, maybe skydive, just give it a try
Spend a weekend in Belize, treasure hunting in the keys
Treat every day like a holiday.
Following your heart sometimes, is the hardest thing to do
Some people just won’t understand, to your heart you must be true
Live your dream, don’t fade away, we got one shot on this ride
Dance to your own rhythm, don’t keep your song inside.
Some people let their lives pass them by
LIVE LIFE TO THE FULLEST is our battle cry
Sand through the hour glass, time keeps a chugging along
Life’s great adventure, find your buried treasure
Every day should be a different song.
This Island
Lyrics: Paul Kane, © The Island Castaways Band
Well here I am on this island
I feel like I’m a million miles away
On the peaceful shores of this island
I think I need the simple life today
I’ll walk the shores of this island
Just to see what I can find
Broken shells scatter this island
Not a cloud up in the sky
And all the dreams I’ve had
Seem to come back now
Why’d I’d ever let them go
Doesn’t matter now
A sea breeze blows across this island
And how it takes my cares away
Just you and me on this island
Together in our own private bay
And all the dreams I’ve had
Seem to come back now
Why’d I’d ever let them go
Doesn’t matter now
